MHS, KHS varsity teams triumph in girls soccer

MARIANAS and Kagman high schools kicked off the girls high school division of the PSS-NMIFA Interscholastic Soccer League SY24-25 with double-digit victories over their respective opponents at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville on Tuesday.

MHS’ varsity team was simply unmatched as they put on a clinic against their sibling team, MHS JV, 16-0.

The onslaught started after just two minutes of play as MHS V used constant pressure on both ends of the field to set the tone. Alyssa Borlongan acted as the sparkplug as her opening goal empowered the rest of the team. Rizza Relucio then scored three consecutive goals to complete a hat-trick followed by two more goals as her team delivered a total of 11 goals in just the first half.

Relucio extended her time in the spotlight, continuing her dominance in the second half by scoring four of her team’s five goals. Meanwhile, MHS JV was held scoreless and had to accept defeat, 16-0.

KHS JV then struggled to respond as KHS V resumed their scoring spree in the second half, adding seven more goals. Tsubakiko Joab and Hayden Norita each earned a hat-trick, securing the victory, 14-1.
