With a trimester schedule on hand, MISO’s events from September to November include: girls basketball, boys volleyball, boys baseball, and cross country.
The girls basketball season will feature four teams this year, with the addition of Saipan International School to Marianas High, Saipan Southern High, and Kagman High School.
Unlike MHS, SSHS, and KHS, however, the Geckos will not sport a junior varsity team.
SIS is scheduled for the MISO’s opening game on October 4, 4:30 p.m. versus Kagman High at the MHS gymnasium. The Dolphins and Manta Rays will follow on October 6.
SIS will also join Grace Christian Academy, MHS 1 and 2, KHS, and SSHS in the boys volleyball league.
Games, played in a round robin format, will start on October 3, 4 p.m. at the MHS gym. GCA will play MHS 1, while MHS 2 takes on Saipan Southern High.
Like last year, an end-of-the-season will be held on November 8, 9, and 10.
From December to February, MISO will feature boys basketball, girls volleyball, and girls soccer.
Girls fastpitch softball, boys soccer, track and field, outrigger canoe, and golf are next in line from March to May, 2012.
“As the Public School System prepares for the return of students, so too does the Marianas Interscholastic Sports Organization,” said MISO acting president Nick Gross in an email.
“Our goal is to make every year of athletic opportunities better than the last.”
