MISO girls’ volleyball pushed to Jan. 13

The first series of games were pushed to Jan. 13 instead of Jan. 11. This was done to reduce the gap between regular season games and the tournament, scheduled for Feb. 18 and 19. Taking place a week prior to the championship is MISO’s boys’ basketball tournament, set for Feb. 11 and 12.

All games will be played at the Marianas High School Gymnasium’s north and south courts. Competing teams include MHS 1 and 2, Saipan International School, Kagman High School, Saipan Southern High School, and Grace Christian Academy. Tinian High School will enter the tournament with a number three seed.

Uniforms must consist of a numbered shirt that matches the rest of the team, and shoes are required during play.

The maximum amount of players in each team is 12. Paperwork deadline for all schools is Jan. 11, 4 p.m. In addition to this, private schools will submit second quarter grades with public schools submitting first quarter grades.

Games scheduled for Jan. 13 are: MHS 2 vs. SIS (4:30 p.m.), MHS 1 vs. KHS (4:30 p.m.), SSHS vs. MHS 1 (5:30 p.m.), and SIS vs. KHS (5:30 p.m.).

Home teams will have the choice of serving or receiving. Games are based on a ‘best of three’ format. The third game, will not be played if not needed in the tournament. Game point is 25 for the first two sets and 15 for the third.

Also starting next month is MISO’s boys’ basketball league, which starts Jan. 5.
