All students from grades nine to 12 are qualified to apply for MISO’s sports physical, which has a fee of $5. Minors must have parents sign their application forms for approval.
MISO held its first sports physical last weekend with 130 applicants in its list. Gross confirmed that 65 students successfully completed the process with a registered physician.
Gross also stated that MISO’s formal season schedules may be released sometime this week. “MISO is continually looking to expand, thus we are always soliciting prospective schools to participate in our leagues,” said Gross.
In addition to having private schools participate in some of its activities, MISO will be looking forward to hosting Tinian High School in various tournaments this year.
“To better accommodate off-island teams, we are looking to change our tournament format from a one to two week process to a two-day, double elimination tournament using the regular season results to seed the teams,” said Gross.
MISO also encourages all participating schools to prepare for the start of its girls’ basketball, boys’ volleyball, and boys’ baseball seasons. Girls’ basketball will start in Oct. 4, boys’ volleyball will start in Oct. 5, and boys’ baseball will start in Oct. 7. The kick off date for MISO’s cross-country qualifier has yet to be announced.
