Mobil advances to quarterfinals

After making a strong come back during the third quarter, the Marianas Wireless couldn’t help but to get shut out of the lead by the Mobils. Marvin Rabauliman and Jun Estolas ruled the night with their great offensive work, as they struck through the Marianas Wireless with their lay ups. Estolas lost the ball to Marianas Wireless’ Leo Galarse in the final quarter, but later fought back with a couple three-pointers.

In almost no time, the Mobils established their 10-point lead near the end of the game. Shortly after being sent to the court, Mobil’s Melvin Villarin snuck his final lay up of the night, following a two-pointer from Junar Guiab.

Estolas led the Mobils in the first quarter while Manolo Manalo and Pando Muleta offered support. Estolas and Marianas Wireless’ Nath Banatasa delivered the highest scores in the game, with both players making 23 points for their teams.

Showing an explosive array of lay ups in the game’s final minutes, Marianas Wireless’ Leo Galarse ranked next to Banatasa with 22 points, half of which derived from the fourth quarter.

The Mobils are scheduled to go against the MDX – Chow Queens tonight in the UFO basketball league’s open division.

Ebisuya 110, Moonlight 94

FRANCIS Rebuyon and Ernie Moises led the MAFEA – Ebisuyas to victory after defeating the Laguna Moonlights 110-94 in the 8th UFO Basketball League’s first game last Tuesday.

Following a 23-23 tie with the Moonlights early in the game, the Ebisuyas swiftly took the lead in the second quarter with the help of Bobby Vargas and leading scorer Francis Rebuyon. After a jump shot from Ebisuya’s Orlan Tengco, Vargas helped Ernie Moises with a three-pointer.

Moises pushed the Ebisuyas with more field goals behind the three-point line. Meanwhile, the Moonlights struggled to catch up. Dindo Pablo and Danny Illahi kept the Moonlights close in the scores, but failed to reach another deadlock.

Rebuyon secured his team’s victory with four free throws in the final quarter. While the Moonlights focused on him, Moises made his 31st point with a quick jumper.

Despite their efforts to catch up, the Moonlights couldn’t score enough points to bring another deadlock.
