THE Natives will not end the regular season of the 2024 Tan Holdings Saipan Baseball League empty-handed after beating the White Sox, 8-4, at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios baseball field on Friday.

The Natives set the tone of the game by quickly disposing of the White Sox in the top of the opening inning with no hits and two strikeouts. On offense, the Natives took advantage of the White Sox’s mishaps and slipped in two runs to grasp the upper hand, 2-0.

With the White Sox still scoreless, the Natives racked in four more runs in the second inning led by Ben Leon Guerrero’s two-RBI single to extend the deficit, 6-0.

After a timeout, the White Sox adjusted their tactics and executed well as they held their ground in the next two innings, allowing no runs while breaking the silence with a solo run scored off an error to cut the lead, 1-6.

However, the White Sox’s flaws continued to set them back as the Natives squeezed in a pair of runs in the fifth and sixth inning to stay afloat, 8-1.

The White Sox attempted to stay relevant by scoring three runs in the top of the seventh and final inning, but the Natives were able to stop the bleeding with shortstop Cameron Towai picking off two consecutive runners to secure the win, 8-4.
