New year, new phase in Rocball

The other six that bottomed-out and were eliminated were Balls of Fury, Dream Team, G-Sparks, Geeks, IDK, and Lay Low.

Aim Low topped the team standings with 11 wins and one loss. Roc It and the Teachers are tied for second place with nine wins and two losses. Alpha Q, Give-A-Hoot, and Just-Do-It leveled off at 7-4 record for an equal share of third place.

The top six groups will begin phase two in the first week of January. Games will again be played in a round robin series of 15 games. Two teams will be eliminated.

The remaining four will join the third phase through a best-of-three semifinal series.

The two teams that survive will end this year’s Rocball season in a best-of-five series to determine the champion.

There were seven players who — after ending the first phase of the season — distinguished themselves as a consummate Rocball player.

Aim Low’s A.J. Aguilar, Alpha Q’s Larry Singa, Geeks’ Jonathan Inacio, Give-A-Hoot’s Damart Teregeyo and Poland Masaharu, Lay Low’s Icemwar Somorang, and Roc It’s Ben Olopai scored at least once in the seven different skills of scoring points in Rocball — a volley point, rally point, ace, skunk, jam, kee, and goal.
