NMC routed Legislature, 82-68.
NMC cagers were “on fire” as they storm the zone defense of Legislature like it was already a championship match between the two teams.
Joe Villacrusis and Mark Wallace made it hard for lawmakers to catch on needed points.
Both cagers shelled Legislature’s zone with a three-point shot each, helping NMC push its way up the scoreboard.
Villacrusis scored 21 points in the game, while Walace fired a total of 20 shots. They were the only two NMC players who reached a two-digit score.
As much as lawmakers tried to narrow their score deficit, they could not maintain a good zone defense and effective offense inside, and even outside the perimeter of NMC.
Ernest Duenas, Joel Punzalan, and Dave Apatang made 19 points for Legislature. But their contribution went down the drain due to several loss balls and missed shots.
Legislature tried hard to make several fastbreaks but even these attempts were not well executed, resulting in turnovers.
With NMC winning the game over Legislature, it is now scheduled for a showdown with Autonomous who earlier beat Department of Corrections.
The NMC-Autonomous match is set on Friday, September 12.
