All interested participants must be a current student, faculty or staff member at the Northern Marianas College. All competitions will be held at the NMC student center in Building J. Competitions will kick off with a bang on February 21, 2011 and will continue to blaze on until February 25, 2011.
Unlike last season there was a rule imposed that there would be a maximum of 26 players; so far, this season, there have been no limitations released to the media but the competition will be on a first come, first served basis.
First through third place winners will be awarded trophies on the last day of the tournament after the championship round. The competition will follow the single elimination rules.
A single elimination tournament format is a billiard tournament format in which a player is eliminated after the loss of a single match. Once that single match is lost, that player is no longer eligible to continue play in that tournament.
The single elimination tournament can be contrast with the double elimination tournament, where two games must be lost before a player is out. There won’t be two brackets and an average of 2-3 games per day.
Registration forms are now available at the student center in building J. All registration forms are due next week Friday, February 18th, 2011 at the student center as well.
