Despite the bad weather that hampered their practice sessions, the NMI Junior All Stars also carried with them the winning spirit that they kept after bringing it home from Jakarta, Indonesia.
Led by manager, Thelma Mizer, coach Bernard Cabrera and assistant coach, Oliver Secharmidal, the Asia-Pacific regional champions are scheduled to depart at 7 a.m., to day.
Little League District Administrator James Ada, Saipan Little League Mike Borja and some parents are also going with them.
This is not the first time that NMI Junior All Stars made it to the World Series. One year after it started in 2000, they became triumphant in the regional meet.
Ada recalled that the NMI Juniors lost to Guam in the 2000 regional tournament. But they came back in2001 and kept winning five years in a row, all the way to 2005 regional meet.
The Junior All Stars had a three years of hibernation before they are now coming back now for the 2009 World Series.
Pacific Trading Co. Ltd., general manager, Charles V. Cepeda wished the NMI Junior All Stars all the best of luck as he expressed hope the young baseball players of the commonwealth will continue to bring out all the very best.
