IN a span of just 30 minutes, the NMI swim team celebrated two proud moments at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, as teenage athletes Piper Raho and Michael Miller each set personal bests in their respective events.

Fifteen-year-old Raho made another strong impression in the Women’s 200m Backstroke, clocking 2:38.43 — over six seconds faster than her previous best. Despite some nerves, she expressed pride in her performance, saying, “It feels pretty nice,” according to an article by The Reporters’ Academy.

Just minutes later, 16-year-old Miller delivered a composed swim in the highly competitive Men’s 50m Freestyle, finishing third in his heat with a personal best of 25.28.

Both NMI swimmers emphasized the importance of staying calm and focused, using techniques like visualization and trusting in their training. They now turn their attention to their next challenge: the Mixed 4x100m Freestyle Relay, where they will team up with Maria Batallones and Kouki Watanabe, aiming to close out their championship run on a strong note.
