The NMIFA has teams for men and women’s national and how training younger boys for 14-and-under division.
In the summer coed league, according to men’s national team member, Glenn Smith who also teaches PE at the Saipan Southern High School, the competition is not so high that it gives even the beginners but have a natural potential can give it a try.
Summer league is more fun and the intensity of the games is lower which aims only to get people into the football.
On Tuesday night, two high school girls who have tried kicking the ball for the first time as they joined the coed summer league, have showed great potential.
Doing the summer league is exactly how we discover talents that can be picks for the national team, Smith said.
The pre-season for the NMIFA coed summer league have started on Tuesday at the
at the Airport Field.
It lasts for eight weeks with the games played in the afternoon of Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
Although the summer league is open to anybody who wants to try football, those who are now playing hail from the NMIFA Men’s, Women’s, and Youth Leagues. Some of the players from the Men’s and Women’s National Teams also play.
