NMI’s Wonenberg tops 3 Oceania

The 17-year-old Marianas High School student ran 18.03 seconds in the Women 200 Meter Sprint Heptathlon beating Tonga’s Unaloto Tauki’uvea who finished the run in 29.20 seconds and NMI’s Li’amwar Rangamar with 31.41 seconds.

Wonenberg was also the fastest in the 100 Meter Hurdles Under 18 beating Tauki’uvea again with 16.83 seconds. The Tongan runner finished 16.90 seconds just over 20 milliseconds faster than NMI’s Rangamar.

In Women Shot Put Heptathlon, Wonenberg threw the farthest making the aluminum ball reach 8.92 meters.

Tauki’uvea threw it 8.68 meters and Rangamar, 7.45 meters.

In Women High Jump, Wonenberg placed second going airborne 1.31meters. Tauki’uvea topped the event with 1.52 meters.

Wonenberg and team mates, Rangamar, Reylynn Sapong, and Ana Tenorio settled for second place in the 4×100 Meter Relay with 56.90 seconds.

The New Zealand with Kelsey Barryman, Kathryn Kennedy, Tamara Anstis and Olivia Blundell finished first with 50.76 seconds.

 In Shot Put Under 18, NMI’s Jenequa Benavente placed third throwing it 9.53 meters.

The winner in the event was Samoa’s Tasele Iva Satupai with 14.27 meters and the second placer was Australia’s Iesha Beer with 12.71 meters.
