Three players of CNMI also got hurt on the bases and while sprinting the line in attempts to break the tie.
The teams were tied, 5-5 in the top of the seventh inning when San Nicolas dashed into the third base.
Third base umpire Ricky Bernabe called out driving San Nicolas jumping in protest. He threw his helmet to the ground and was trying to confront the umpire when his coach rushed to pacify him.
The scene interrupted the game for about five minutes as San Nicolas remained agitated a few yards from the third base.
Later on, he was escorted out of the field. This caused CNMI’s fans to keep shouting at the umpire prompting the game officials to ask both the management teams to control their respective fans, or else the field will be cleared.
Variety learned that due to the incident, San Nicolas may not play in the championship tomorrow.
The NMI bench exploded again when home plate umpire called Jesus Iguel out when Philippine pitcher, Jerome Bacarisas tossed the ball to the catcher as Iguel stole the home base.
The NMI coach appealed that the RP pitcher balked. The officials determined so and decided to count Iguel’s run, sending the score to 7-5 in the eighth inning.
Earlier in the seventh, Shane Yamada stayed about five minutes lying on the ground after he was hit violently in the shoulder by RP’s second base while throwing the ball to the first base.
Ryan Ada got hurt in the right knee as skids to the first base after making a base hit.
Yamada again got hurt when RP’s Bacarisas hit him by pitch in the butt.
As the game resumed, NMI kept RP scoreless in the eighth inning to win the game.
Vicente Cabrera went 2-for-3 and scored a run. He singled twice and hit two RBIs scoring Iguel and Ada.
Vicente Camacho also went 2-for-3, had one double, one single and sent Cabrera home to score a run.
Lawrence Dikito went 1-for-1, hit a double and had one RBI to score Smith Regis.
Iguel pitched a no-hitter two innings and gave up one strike out.
