Omechelang is 2009 King of the Lanes

Omechelang who, together with wife, Gloria had the most number of participation in SBA tournaments topped the final roll-off, with Richard Leong and Alex Castro taking the second and third places respectively.

Castro who struck 1,738 pins in the final roll-off defeated Leong in the semi finals with 179 pinfalls over Leong’s 131.

Omechelang bowed to Castro in Game 1 of the finals eking out 177 pinfalls against Castro’s 186. But he defeated bounced back by 32 pinfalls in the second round knocking down 207 pins ahead of Castro’s 175 pinfalls.

Finishing with a total of 384 pinfalls against Castro’s 361, Omechelang claimed the 2009 King of the Lanes title.

Meanwhile, the SBA led by its president, Jerry Tan and treasurer, Ross Zapanta also handed special awards to the other bowlers

The leaders in bowlers’ ranking system also received their awards.

For having the most number of participation, Gloria and Percy Omechelang won an over night stay with breakfast at the Fiesta Resort & Spa.

Emi Williams and Ben Aizon were given special awards. Williams got an overnight stay at the Saipan Grand Hotel with breakfast, while Aizon brought home a Budweiser folding chair.

Raymond Zapanta who settled for fourth place in the final roll-off striking 1,665 pins, topped the bowlers’ ranking system and also won one-night with breakfast at the Fiesta Resort & Spa.

Ron Cal was No. 1 in BRS count and won a Saipan Grand Hotel overnight stay with breakfast.

Cal who defeated defending champion, Diane Chong by two pinfalls in the finals won the 2009 Budweiser Queen of the Lanes crown, while Raphael Zapanta who reigned in monthly tournaments last year wore the Fiji Water Prince of the Lanes crown.
