JODY O’Sullivan and Addalee Taflinger ruled their respective divisions in Run Saipan’s 4th Annual Mangrove 5K run at American Memorial Park on Saturday morning.
The course took participants through a scenic route stretching north toward the docks and back.
O’Sullivan led by a distance and was the overall top runner with a time of 17:13. “It was lovely. The course was nice and flat, and the concrete makes a huge difference.” O’Sullivan said.
In second place in the men’s division was Landen Taflinger, who finished with a time of 18:40 followed by Jordan Ruiz with a time of 19:15.
In the women’s division, Addalee Taflinger finished first with a time of 21:02. “It was great,” she said. “There were a lot of turns and I was confused and almost didn’t know where to go. I’ve never ran this course before.”
Like O’Sullivan, she said she will participate in all the other races set for March.
In second place in the women’s division was veteran runner Ann Bang with a time of 22:46 followed by Addalee’s mother, Angela Taflinger, who clocked 23:54.
“Thank you to our hard-working volunteers,” said Run Saipan President Edward Dela Cruz Jr. “Thanks to our race officials and special thanks to the National Honor Society and the MHS Run Club for volunteering for another one of our events today. Thank you to Saipan Tribune, Marianas Variety and the American Red Cross.”
