THE Padres eased past D9er’s, 7-1, to collect their third consecutive win in the 2024 Tan Holdings Saipan Baseball League at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field on Tuesday.

The Padres gradually took over the ball game by scoring a run in nearly every inning played.

They started showcasing their infield defense, highlighted by shortstop JR Suel who caught a line drive and picked off a runner on second base for a double-play. Suel, who was first at bat, also contributed on the offensive end as he capitalized off a handful of errors committed by D9er’s to round the bases safely and give his team the lead, 1-0.

D9er’s continued to struggle offensively and defensively in the second inning, allowing the Padres’ Arby Yaguel to slip through.

Two more runs were added by the Padres in the bottom of the third, and this time they were earned by Jordan Suel off a fielder’s choice for an RBI. He was later brought in by Darion Jones for an RBI double to further extend the deficit, 4-0.

In the fourth inning, the Padres recorded their second double-play for two quick outs. However, D9er’s EJ Tenorio managed to sneak past the home plate to score his team’s first run of the game and cut the lead, 1-4.

In the next inning, the Padres resumed their dominance from the batter’s box. In the bottom of the fifth, Ben Jones knocked back a single and earned two RBIs as D9er’s committed a sequence of errors in one play, allowing the Padres’ Kyle Hocog and Yaguel to score two more runs while connecting an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to lead comfortably, 7-1.

D9er’s had one last chance to even the score in the top of the seventh inning, but were met with three straight outs that were highlighted by the Padres’ third double-play.
