With an appointment of a two year term from September 2009 to October 2011, the National Development Program or NDP named Johnny Kintaro as the head coach of the men’s squad having Burton Wong and Yutaka Gibbons Jr. as his assistant coaches. Head coaching for the women’s team will be George Domingo while Logan Ngiriou, Rayson King, and Happy Fritz are designated as assistant coaches.
NDP is a new innovation for Basketball in Palau that ensures in developing basketball athletes to their fullest potentials in time for national and international competitions such as the 2010 Micro Games. First meeting and presentation of the said NDP coaches will be held at the Palau National Olympic Committee board room on Tuesday, 8th of September at 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. where the details of the task to be explained as well as the process of selecting the 2010 privileged basketball squad who will represent Palau.
