PRIORITY Care and Marpac continue to move up the ladder of the 2024 R&J Wine and Liquor Inter-Government/Business League as they triumphed over their respective adversaries at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium on Saturday.

Priority Care recorded a dominant victory over E-Land, 76-49.

The opening quarter was filled with a handful of lead exchanges as both teams fired from all cylinders.

Priority Care made sure their presence was known inside the paint as Matthew Duenas used his strength and capitalized off second-chance buckets, drawing fouls along the way while teammate Steve King punished slacking defenders from afar with a pair of triples.

On the other end, E-Land’s Slymark Defang led the charge from underneath the rim while Marwyn Mulinyawe and Mark Librada extended the range with two three-pointers as their team trailed by just one point, 15-16.

In the second quarter, Priority Care started to find their rhythm as the rest of the team started to pitch in. Ray Agulto and Bryce Maratita acted as inside support contributing two buckets each while Duenas picked up where he left off with six points. E-Land answered from beyond the arc with a couple of threes by Gino Libuw and Jonnathan Gunnacao, but remained behind, 27-32.

E-Land collapsed in the second half. As King started to heat up from the three-point line, E-Land was forced to widen their defensive coverage, which created more scoring opportunities for Agulto and Duenas from within and extended their lead, 51-37.

Despite the continuous efforts of Gunnacao and Libuw, their defense continued to falter while Priority Care continued to escalate with its biggest run in the fourth quarter for a smooth ride to victory, 76-49.

Marpac vs CPA

Marpac outlasted CPA, 87-80.

The first half was controlled by CPA’s David Camacho and Donovan Brennan. The dynamic duo highlighted the opening quarter with nine and 11 points, respectively, and kept the fuel burning throughout the second period to maintain a slight advantage, 40-37.

The fight was not over, however, as Marpac cooked up a second-half comeback with endless harassment on the defensive end. With each forced turnover, Marpac flourished on the other end with transition finishes for a 30-18 run led by Chioni Dela Cruz and Coby Santos with 12 and 10 points to snatch the lead out of CPA’s hands, 67-58.

Brennan tried to keep CPA within fighting distance with a bombardment of three-pointers, but Marpac delivered the buckets to remain afloat and eventually secure the win, 87-80.
