PSS players are on a two-game win streak in the 2024 R&J Wine and Liquor Inter-Government/Business League after another display of dominance, this time by thrashing CHCC, 100-50, at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium on Tuesday.

PSS established control right from the start as they kept CHCC silent for the first five minutes of the game while pushing a double-digit advantage led by John Pineda and Melvin Sakisat.

Coming off the bench, Kevin Leomo finally broke the silence for CHCC with a triple followed by a mid-range jumper, but they still had a lot of work to do as PSS nearly led by 20 points going into the second period, 22-5.

After reassessing their strategy, CHCC started to find their groove with James Phillips at the frontline scoring eight consecutive points followed by back-to-back threes by Jose Tudela. However, their eagerness came at a cost as they committed several fouls which allowed PSS to score from the charity line and maintain a 20-point lead, 46-25.

In the second half, CHCC had more misses than makes while PSS continued to fire at will with Adrian Flores powering the third quarter with 11 points while Tyrik Basa took over the fourth with seven points en route to a blowout victory, 100-50.

Coca Cola vs Docomo

Coca Cola made it to this week’s highlight by beating Docomo, 87-84, to claim their first win of the season.

Compared to their debut, Coca Cola played like a different team as they controlled the lead throughout the game.

It was a high-scoring first half with both teams converting buckets. Docomo heavily relied on Shane Deleon Guerrero and Anthony Diaz while Coca Cola countered with teamwork as each player contributed on both ends of the floor to grasp the upper hand, 28-23.

With barely any support for Deleon Guerrero and Diaz, Coca Cola used the opportunity to stretch the gap led by Jeffrey Yugummang, who caught on fire, with 13 points alone in the second period while Aaron Villacrusis took over the third to keep Coca Cola afloat, 73-60.

In the fourth and final quarter, Docomo fought back with Deleon Guerrero orchestrating a late-game rally, gradually closing the distance and eventually tying the game.

Fortunately for Coca Cola, Bryan Ytac and Albert Atan saved the day with crucial buckets to regain the lead. With less than a minute left on the clock, Docomo was forced to foul, but Coca Cola drained most of their free throw attempts to push a two-possession advantage, leading to an upset victory, 87-84.
