The high school boys and girls division runners take off during the Public School System Cross Country event at American Memorial Park on Saturday.
THE second qualifying run of the Public School System’s Cross Country event drew over 450 students from elementary, middle and high schools in the CNMI.
At airport field last week, 368 male and female students from seven high schools, eight middle schools and 11 elementary schools participated in the annual athletics event.
On Saturday, the PSS Athletic Program, in collaboration with Run Saipan, held qualifier No. 2 at American Memorial Park.
Among the elementary school boys, Grace Christian Academy’s Beau Bauer led the race followed by Saipan International School’s Gabriel Walsh and San Vicente School’s O’Marion Reyes. Kagman Elementary School’s Brayden Brennfleck, who finished third in the first qualifier at airport field last week, settled for the fourth place on Saturday.
In the elementary school girls division, Brilliant Star School’s LoVel Spaeth retained her top spot. SIS’s Kaylen Taflinger came in second while Olivia Walsh, also of SIS, finished third.
Agape Christian School’s Lucas Yang dominated the middle school boys’ division race. Chacha Ocean View Middle School’s Kyle Naputi came in second while SIS’s Andre Guerrero was third.
The top three qualifiers in the middle school girls division were Chacha’s Beniah Murphy, Saipan Community School’s Alyssa Pailin Brasuell and SIS’s Faith Arriola.
In the high school boys division, SIS’s Nash Santos was still the No. 1 finisher. ACS’s Jireh Wang came in second while Marianas High School’s Takeru Jim finished third.
In the high school girls division, SIS’s Addalee Taflinger edged SIS’s Kaithlyn Chavez while ACS’s Sablina Chen came in third.
