The starting point of the walk along with the registration was designated at the 13 Fishermen Hut at Beach Road.
The trail took walkers along the pathway on beach road witnessing the quiet beauty of the silent ocean that Saipan is surrounded by.
Further down the pathway, participants witnessed a majestic sunrise. One teenager from Marianas High School exclaimed “it’s as if Saipan is gleaming along with the deep blue color of the sparkling water! This island is so beautiful and I really wished that the people around us worked together in keeping it beautiful.”
“It’s just as beautiful as it was 20 years ago. If the government does nothing to help its people and island, this beautiful place will deteriorate just like most of the world” added Masahido Kensuke, a routine jogger who does not work for PSS but still decided to participate in the PSS walk agreeing with its advocacy of a healthier living style by practicing a good walk, run, or jog in the morning.
More than 80 participants graced the PSS walk with their presence. Most of the participants were from Marianas High School’s chapter of the National Honor Society.
Other participants were from the work forces (teachers, professors, PSS staffs from different schools and different departments) that live by the saying of “Students First”.
The school with the most participants is also given prize money to use in their discretion of beautifying their school campus, upgrading the essential materials that they use for schools, or improving/replacing whatever else there is that needs to be done.
It’s a big step towards encouraging walkers to participate, and it doesn’t matter if you come from PSS or not, go ahead and participate for a good work out in the morning.
