PSS turns ire at BoG; MBI wins debut in Inter-government/business caging

The battle raged on last Monday in the 2009 Inter-government & Business Basketball League at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym.

Ruluked picked up foul and put on a three-point lead by adding two free throws but BoG’s Jawn Joyner tied the game again bombing PSS from behind the arc.

Then, the BoG cagers put up the defense too tight that they had to give up two consecutive fouls allowing PSS’s Bobby Coldeen to pound them with his four winning free throws, finishing BoG off, 89-85.

Coldeen and Maverick Itibus set the lead for PSS in the first quarter.

Iguel rampaged and David Palacios hit a three point shot in the second quarter. But this did not stun PSS as Lawrence Bunag, Walter Mendez and Derrick Aughenbaugh stretched the lead to 10 points.

With Joyner backing him up with perimeter shots and Palacios’ second three-pointer Iguel continued the rally as he scattered eighth points to narrow the gap down to seven points in the third quarter.

Mendez, Ruluked Peter Mendiola and Melvin Manibusan kept the game in control in the fourth quarter.

It appeared however, that BoG, after bearing its first loss to Docomo during the opening game last Friday was trying to turn its ire at PSS cagers as Iguel bombarded them with 26 points in the fourth quarter.

Along with Coldeen’s finishing touch and Ruluked’s two free throws, Manibusan’s three straight two-pointers helped PSS turn the game around to secure their first victory.

MBI 80, CPA 64

Bonbon Cadagat, Ivan De Vero and RJ Nonato joined forces in the fourth quarter to help Marianas Brokers Inc., pound Commonwealth Ports Authority, 80-64 to win their debut game.

De Vero widened the gap with twin two-pointers one of which tailed with a penalty shot.

CPA’s Barrie Maratita blasted from outside the rainbow line and that was their last.

MBI tightened the defense and Cadagat led the rally handing the team its first win.

Art Trajano helped set the lead in the first quarter with his four points.

Cadagat went ballistic with one three point shot in the first quarter and two in the second quarter. Again, he fired two consecutive three-pointers in the third quarter.
