Lead scorer Melvin Capalad did it again, notching a game high 26 points with Alex Lauron piling 13. Bon Tamayo earned 11 points and hammered two free throws to give PTC a 69-68 victory in the final quarter.
Hanwa Hotel – 12 points behind in the first period – seemed far from winning. Dennis Vinas’ eight points, combined with Jam Navarro’s four gave the team a fighting chance by the second half.
Tamayo opened the game with a three-pointer, followed by Capalad’s layup and another three from Aba Tagle. Capalad and Danny Dayrit dodged Hanwa’s defense with two more three-pointers.
It all boiled down to a one-point lead for PTC in the third quarter, with Hanwa’s Julius Tabamo and Jaime Wabinga racking up 11 quick points. Navarro and Tagle came close to ejection with four personal fouls.
Pacific Trading Company remains unbeaten, with the other now holding a four win-one loss record. PTC’s center Jojo Garon scored nine points for the night, Tagle made five, Dayrit had three, and Zack Babauta squeezed in two.
