From eight that emerged at the end of the regular season two weeks ago, the number with teams vying for this year’s championship title has narrowed down to six.
With the Pacific Island Club and Asahi ending the road for the stronger teams Brotherhood and IT&E, the softball actions will continue as the weather permits, on Sunday, Jan. 24.
Top teams, Wuzzup, Peleliu, TKK2 and Reap It will clash in the morning. The first game starts at 11 a.m. Wuzzup will take on Peleliu in the first game to be followed by the game between TKK2 and Reap It.
In the losers’ bracket, PIC and Asahi are waiting. Which ever between Wuzzup and Peleliu fails, will face PIC and the loser between TKK2 and Reap It will take on Asahi in the afternoon.
Asahi rallied in the fourth inning last Sunday to beat Brotherhood, 6-5 with Kuich Damian hitting a three-run home run.
And with Masatoshi Otsuka driving-in a run with a single for his second base hit as and Mike Saures hitting a two-run double, PIC rallied in the fourth for their 11-4 victory over IT&E.
Belau Softball League Association Bryan Adelbai foresees the playoff will bring exciting games between the survivors and tough teams.
