16-and-under players from team RBC-B defeated their older counterparts from team RBC Happiness, 41-29 thanks to double-digit scores from Daryl Suarez and Josh Norita.
As part of a development program under Rollers head coach Joe Diaz, players from team Happiness were prohibited from fast break plays.
“Doing this will teach them to plan their moves on the court and pass five or more times before shooting,” Diaz told Variety.
Suarez, going 7-for-8 through both halves, posted a game high 14 points and Norita scored 10. Teammate John Cenir hammered a three-pointer late in the second half for a five-point total.
Happiness’ Eli Aughenbaugh hammered three layups despite constant misses from Patrick Torres and Wens Namelo.
RBC-B’s victory attributed to Norita’s three steals, two shot blocks, two defensive rebounds, and one assist.
In an earlier game, Rollers A’s 16U squad dominated team Rollers B, 45-19.
Renan Lansang took the spotlight with three three-pointers, going 5-for-10 against the younger crew of Michael Cenir, John Darag, and Marvin Deocares.
Erick Dela Rosa slowed Rollers B on three shot blocks and dominated the rebounds alongside Dixon Kwon. Lansang scored 13 points, Dela Rosa earned 12, and David Ada added 10 to secure the game.
