Red Cross Society Walkathon a Success

Sofi Ullah dominated the 5k run for the 19 – 31 years old class, as he was able to cross the finish line with a time of 28 minutes and 44 seconds to capture first place while his fellow citizen, Joynal, who have joined and won many marathon and walkathon events in Palau, have once again showed his force by clocking in at exactly 46 minutes to grab number spot for the 10k ages 18 – 36, that runs from the track and field to the Palau Pacific Resort and back.

Completing the results for 5k, Young Ricky Roman at 13 conquered his class by his time of 32:38 while John Apostol and River Thomas came in as second and third with a time of 49:16 and 57:56, in thar order. For the 14 – 18 years old, Ricky Remoket crossed the line with 39:10 to grab frist, while Desmond Malu clocked in at 44:30 to get second and Leonides Gabriel placed third finishing with 44:47. Habib capturing second for the 19 – 31with a time of 29:30 followed by Fodden to get third place.In the middle age group ranging from 36 – 49, Revnel Roman clocked in at 29:36 to get first place while being followed by Bayona Reynaldo with his time of 32:07 then Hironio Sabado came in with a time of 36:19. As for the golden years of 50 plus, Elizabeth De Jony came in first with 37:03 tralied by Joseph Lee mad with an precise time of 40:00 chased byFernando Fran of 41:37. For the 10k, Koji Tsuchich trailed Joynal by 2 minutes to get second place while another Bangladesh, Ali Monsur cmae in third with 53:28 time. Nestor Parinas clocked in with 47:32 win the 36 – 49 class tracked by Fuanes with 55:48 then chased by Kambes Kesolei with 1 hour and 3 minutes. In the 50 years old and up, Juan Guatno finished the course with 48 minutes and 41 seconds to lead the pack whereas Annabel Lymann arrived with a time 1:02:30 followed by Evelyn Yano with a time of 1:08:05.The half day event was full of surprises as the Society gave away free t’shirts to all the runners and walkers, free breakfast, and awards for the top finishers of the race. Martha Marcil won the Grand Prize of Nissan March Sedan for the raffle.This year’s Palau Red Cross Walkathon was sponsored by Bank of Hawaii, PNCC, Drop Off Bar and Grill, Sonias’ Beauty Salon, Tropicana, Kramer’s.
