Rene Battalones
RENE Batallones has made his yearly return to the list of elite players in the 2025 season of the Saipan Golf Association, winning the June Ace of the Month title after shooting a net score of 63 during the monthly tournament at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort East Course on June 22.
Competition was fierce this time around, but Batallones kept his swing steady and his placements precise. He completed the front nine with a strong performance, shooting a gross score of 39, but struggled on the back nine with a gross of 42 — for a combined gross total of 81.
Fortunately, Batallones sported a handicap of 18, bringing his net score down to 63 — enough to secure first place and earn the June Ace of the Month title.
In second place was Das Krishnan, who also posted a net score of 63 but fell short in the tiebreaker via scorecard playoff.
Another tiebreaker occurred in the battle for third place, where Rick Kautz edged out Jack Iglecias, who settled for fourth despite sharing a net score of 68.
In the optional play, the Closest to the Pin winners were:
Jack Iglecias for Hole #4
Das Krishnan (hole-in-one) for Hole #6
Frances Sablan for Holes #11 and #15
Jack Iglecias was also the Longest Drive winner for both Hole #3 and Hole #18.
The SGA July Ace of the Month Tournament will be played this Sunday at Coral Ocean Resort at 9 a.m., with show time at 8:30 a.m.
