With their third win so far, the Right Guards continue strong with leading scorer Ivan De Vero, who contributed a total of 25 points for the team.
The Marianas Wireless had the Right Guards by the neck during the third quarter, when Marianas Wireless’ Wowie Abuel and Sonny Lerio scored three baskets behind the three point line. They managed to catch up to the Right Guards after trailing behind them in the first and second quarter.
Right Guard’s Darwin Barbo took back their lead in the fourth quarter, after being fouled several times. Barbo boosted the team by 6 points from his free throws, plus another two-pointer. De Vero provided an extra 10 points with his quick, undefended lay ups.
Abuel and Lerio were successful with a couple more three pointers, but they did not have enough time to regain their lead.
Marianas Resort 82, Tropical Laundry 75
The Marianas Resorts came out victorious after their match with Tropical Laundry at another game of the Emon Lodge No. 179 Basketball Invitational Tournament last Sunday.
The Tropical Laundries had a good start in the first quarter after Art Salazar and Marlon Dedios shot for four points, giving them the first lead. However, they could not keep the pace up after Marianas Resort’s Arnold Crisostomo banked two three-pointers in the early second quarter.
While the Tropical Laundry’s defense was weakening, Crisostomo offered another jump shot followed by several more baskets from his fellow team mate, Jayson Gatdula.
By the second half, the Marianas Resorts knew that they already secured their win after gaining more than 10 points ahead of the Tropical Laundries.
The Marianas Resorts used Gatdula as their key offense in the fourth quarter, along with Rico Delos Reyes and Raymon Palacios. The three hammered in an extra 12 points before the game ended.
