‘Ring of Fire’ ignites on Dec. 16

TRENCH Tech will bring back combat sports to the island with the first ever “Ring of Fire” boxing and kickboxing event slated for Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Garapan Central Park Round House.

The action will pit fighters in a 14×14 ft square with over 21 fights set in 10 different weight categories. The participants’ ages will range from 14 to 45 years old.

The main event will feature Trench Tech’s Andres “Tanapag Beach Bad Boy” Camacho and Jake Albert.

Camacho is a U.S. Marine who has been training and staying active and often fighting in the mainland U.S. while Albert is one of the top boxers of  Guam Muay Thai.

“It’s been five years since our last fight because of Typhoon Yutu and Covid-19,” said Trench Tech founder Cuki Alvarez.  “We weren’t able to continue our fight promotions. So I am introducing Ring of Fire to our MMA line of promotional events such as Trench Warz and Rites of Passage and the Art of War Grappling tournaments,” he added.

“We will be having the Ring of Fire at least twice a year to groom up-and-coming fighter athletes who may want to take combat fighting as a career path. With all our promotional fight events, we can help them accomplish their short- and long-term goals,” Alvarez said.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and the first match kicks off at 6 p.m.

Tickets are sold at Boarderline for $25 each, and will cost $30 at the door.

The event sponsors are Miller Lite, Century Hotel, IT&E, Hafa Adai Rent A Car, and Guam Muay Thai, which donated gloves.
