In the first game, Myron Laniyo gave heavy hits with 7 aces, 5 kees, and 3 goals for 31 points.
Myron’s 31-point contribution was the highest score yet made by a player in Rocball League this year.
Myron has been in a slump since last year when it comes to scoring the “Jam”, causing him the title of Master Blaster for last year’s Rocball season.
In the second game, 2007 champion, Evenflow, beat Naturals in four sets 67 to 39.
Evenflow won all four sets of their game against Naturals, 17-4, 16-15, 17-5, 17 to 15.
Evenflow had to come from behind in the fourth set to clinch the “juice–out” win and avoid going into overtime.
In Rocball’s quarter/set system a team can only win the game in four sets if it has outscored its opponent in game points and wins the fourth set.
Game rule #1 sates that a Rocball team cannot win a four-set match in a losing set.
In the third game of the day, Okies and Soul Rebels each won two sets.
Okies won the first set 16-8, while Soul Rebels grabbed the second set, 16-3, taking the lead in the match by 24 to 19.
The Okies came back in the third set, 15 to 8, and took the lead in game points with a record of 34 to 32.
No-Mercy swamped Section “A” in four sets, 52 to 6, including a 16 to 0 second set skunk, and third game was an out a four set game, 47 to 43, with Soul Rebels charging from behind to win the game in the fourth set.
Soul Rebels recovered from their game point deficit with a 15-9 fourth set win.
Rocball teams will battle it out in the MHS Gym next Saturday to see which of them will be able to make the cut in the next level of matches.
It is said that teams with three losses will be eliminated from this year’s Rocball games.
