The Rollers B took major control of the game since the beginning of the first quarter of the game and early on through the second half of the bout. Erick Dela Rosa and teammate Daniel Camacho each scored 4 points to start the game off strong.
The Rollers A then created an immovable defense line against the Rollers B to keep at the bay for awhile. The Rollers B’s Pangalai was able to score a down town shot. By the end of the quarter, the Rollers A achieved a 7 point lead against their co-home team, 16-9.
As the second quarter rolled in the Rollers A cranked it up a notch and it was history for the Rollers B. They were only able to score one charity shot and silence for the rest of the quarter while the Rollers A’s Stacy Macaranas scored a down town shot reinforced by a jump shot to score 5 points while his teammate Ren Orelola jumped into the winning band wagon and chipped in his four pence.
By half time the Rollers A were able to balloon the gap to 12 points giving no mercy to their sister team, 32-10.
The Rollers B entered the court with brave hearts and renewed hope for the second half of the game. But this hope was quickly put out by their sister team after Macaranas scored another 6 points for the Rollers A.
Although the Rollers A were leading, the Rollers B were able to keep them at bay by devicing an amazing defense barrier and the Rollers A were only able to score a total of 10 points in contrast to their basket-to-point rampage in the earlier quarters.
By the bottom of the third quarter the score was 40-14.
Both teams anticipated the final quarter but it was nerve wracking for the Rollers B. They entered the last quarter of the bout bravely but were in a race against time as well. On the other hand, the Rollers A took no time in remorse or compassion for the Rollers B and were on full throttle for the last ten minutes of the quarter.
Together the Rollers A secured a total of 9 points in the final quarter to secure their win. The Rollers B refused to go down without a fight and Kwon and Camacho each scored 6 points a piece but the damage was already in the earlier quarters.
By the end of the game the Rollers A secured a 49-33 deficit to obtain the upper hand of the game.
The Rollers A then marched off to the finals and the Rollers B competed against Saina for the consolation round of the game. The results will be posted on Tuesday’s edition of the Marianas Variety.
