Rotary caging moved next week

Rangamar in an e-mail message said moving the league opening to next week is to give the participating teams a chance to complete and turn all the required documents.

He said only two teams have submitted the requirements so far. The rest of the teams he said requested for extra time to complete their documents which include team registration form, player registration form, player authorization and waiver form, birth certificate or passport, and entrance fee.

Players between the ages of 18 and under are eligible to play provided they don’t turn 19 before October 30.

The Rotary Club caging was earlier planned to include boys 14 years old and under but due to difficulties among coach and managers to handle more than one team, it will run as the usual 18 Under division.

Rangamar in a meeting two weeks ago has said there are many children on the island who are eligible and are interested to join the league but they have decided not to pursue the 14-and-under division because the coaches may no longer be able to handle two teams.

The teams will go in a round-robin format with every team playing each other once. The playoff series will be in an eight-team single elimination round.
