The Saints recovered from a nine-point deficit and routed team Chalan Kiya-Loving Hands, 71-68 while Chow Queen pulled a second half comeback to beat Dandan-Hawaiian Rock, 73-66.
Josh Kiyoshi secured the Saints’ fourth victory on 27 points, scoring eight to outrun Loving Hands, 25-13 in the final quarter. Teammate Patrick Torres tallied 15 while LJ Reyes and Vince Iglesias piled seven each.
The Loving Hands had earlier dropped behind, 19-14 and recovered on back-to-back field goals from Amor Zapata and Dante Tabora.
Reyes lifted the Saints on a buzzer-beating triple and tied the game, 33-33 by halftime. Patrick Torres made up for a sloppy first half and garnered 13 points to hand the Loving Hands their second loss.
Chow Queen, also in the league’s ‘B’ Bracket, capitalized on a three-point lead to keep their perfect record. They now trail the Saints by one game.
Hawaiian Rock surged ahead, 11-17 but came short by the second half and dragged behind on a 19-15 run in the third quarter.
Jeff Galvez and Chris Lansang boosted Chow Queen on 18 points apiece while Sheen Metran earned 15 and Melvin Capalad scored nine.
In other games, Chalan Kanoa-Fong’s Bakery defeated Puerto Rico-Triskelion via default and San Antonio-Gene’s Barber snagged a 74-69 win over Koblerville-GEC. Susupe-Armatech crushed San Jose-Blue Haus-CP Repair, 88-49.
Sunday’s first match between the China Town-Slashers and Gualo Rai-Blue Haus was cancelled.
