The CNMI, according to Gorilla Warfare Inc.,’s Jeff Boyer received “exceptional” exposure from ABS-CBN, the largest TV network in the Philippines when it ran the story of Eduard “The Landslide” Folayang winning a fight against Saipan’s Jerome Norita in the recently held Battle Ready at the Saipan World Resort.
Aside from the fight, ABS-CBN also featured the URCC lightweight champion’s island experience—from the travel to the island all the way to day he returned. Folayang’s fight was broadcast on The Filipino Channel last weekend.Marking a first trip along with URCC president, Alvin Aguilar and wife Bubbles, the Landslide made positive waves in the local Filipino community as well as capturing the respect of local fight fans and fighters alike.Prior to his fight, Folayang commented “it is my first time to come to Saipan and I am very happy to be here. I just want to to put on a great show. Everyone here has been very nice and welcoming.” Many Filipinos were excited to hear about the visit. They noted it was the first time a true MMA fighter came for such a show. Although Folayang’s bout was a non-title one, the URCC signed on with Gorilla Warfare to offer support and help expose fighters from both ends of the spectrum.”It’s really about promoting our Asian and Pacific Islander fighters. They need to experience other types of fighting styles, this is our goal,” Bubbles said.
