Saipan’s All Stars teams are stronger

In an interview yesterday, Tenorio said that they way he observed during the four-month regular season all the way to the championship, “our kids can deal with fast-throwing pitches up to 95 miles per hour.”

At the Francisco Palacios Ballfield later in the afternoon, Junior League All Stars manager, Vinnie Sablan had pails filled with baseballs.

The boys were to practice batting and catching to perfect further exactly what Tenorio has been seeing from them.

“So we are confident the teams this year are just as strong if not stronger,” Tenorio said.

Saipan’s Little League All Stars teams in Junior, Majors, Senior and Big are preparing for the district tournaments in the next few days against Tinian and Rota. And which ever win, will represent CNMI in the Asia-Pacific Regional Baseball Tournament that will be held on Saipan on June 25.

Tenorio said that in his three years League experience in the US, 95 mph ball speed is so far the fastest he ever witness, and they way he saw it in this year’s regular season, he believes Saipans’ teams are fully prepared for this.

The boys’ batting averages that range from 475 to 800, Tenorio said shows how strong Saipan teams are.

“We are talking not only about one division here. We’re talking about all the division,” he said.

With regards to defense, Tenorio said he believes in Saipan teams’ “defensive alignment,” which he noted to be well balanced.

Many of the senior division players think it is the Indonesia that they have to get ready for. The Indonesia they said beat them as they were just a game away to the World Series.

But for Tenorio, the teams might as well prepare themselves against the Philippines that won the World Series three years ago.

Tenorio said the teams from Guam will arrive on June 25, the teams from Philippines on June 26 and those from Hongkong and Indonesia will arrive on June 28.
