Shirley’s routs IFC, 3-1 in futsal finals

Shirley’s FC’s faster strikers took it all after a 3-1 finals win over Independent Football Club in the competitive division of the 2011 Women’s Futsal League.

Goals from Jeraldine Castillo, Lalaine Pagarao, Marrielle Gariguez was all it took to claim the trophy at the Gillette Multipurpose Gymnasium last night.

Grabbing the title wasn’t a surprise for the champions, who scored 38 goals and allowed two to win six straight games during regular season.

Shirley’s FC — joined by Chelsea FC Soccer School’s David Tsui and Jacky Li on the bench — hung on to a fast-paced second half and let one slip from IFC’s frontrunner Sarah Allen before ruling the championship.

Allen alone had a few close calls, including a late-goal attempt against Angie Ito and a rally past Jhaneeka Atalig with 10 minutes remaining.

Castillo notched Shirleys’ first goal and Pagarao followed seven minutes later to clinch a 2-0 lead in the first half.

Allen didn’t score IFC’s lone goal until the 32nd minute.

Joining Shirley’s FC-A were Marilou Gariguez, Jeralyn Castillo, Melody Johnson, Alexa Vergara, and Mikky Vargas.

Paire Football Club gained a 4-2 record to bag the playoffs’ second seed before losing to IFC, 4-0 on Monday’s semis.

IFC drew one win, one draw, and three losses to get the third seed.
