Siheky trail run kicks off tomorrow

The run, sanctioned by Pacific Islands Club, will include five and 10 kilometer courses which start at the Grotto parking lot.

Deadline to enter is today and entry fees are $10 per adult and $5 per child. Show time is at 6:15 a.m. and race starts at 7 a.m.

“So far we have several people signed up for the race,” said organizer and PIC call center manager Kevin Carey in an email to Marianas Variety. “Last year we had over 70 participants. It should be a good race all around. We had kids as young as eight years old join.”

Veteran runners Jack Kabiriel and Mamiko Oshima-Berger dominated last year’s race.

From Grotto, participants in the 10K course will go through the Autobahn trail, cross Bird Island Road, and head up Kimikaze. Runners will head up the road towards Suicide Cliff and follow a series of turns that lead back to Grotto. A $50 cash prize awaits the top male and female.

Those in the 5K course will only cross the Autobahn Trail and Bird Island Road before heading back to Grotto. This course will have no prize money.

“The race is loaded with great views. We hope to have another good turnout for a great cause,” added Carey.

Proceeds will go towards Marianas March Against Cancer.
