ALL are invited to join and watch the inaugural Sindalu Ninja Games from June 1, 2024, Saturday, to June 2, 2024, Sunday, in the Micronesia Mall Center Court. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both days and promises action-packed excitement for all.
Organized by Guma i Sindalu Siha, Guam’s premier Ninja Warrior gym led by certified Ninja coaches, the Sindalu Ninja Games offer an exciting opportunity for athletes of all ages. Head Coach Deren Perez envisioned bringing the spirit of the popular Ninja Warrior TV show and its challenging obstacles to Guam. A custom Ninja rig, specially designed for this event and future competitions, will make its grand debut on June 1st, marking a significant milestone for the island’s burgeoning ninja community. Set against the backdrop of Micronesia Mall, the Center Court provides an ideal space for the games, allowing families and friends to rally behind their favorite competitors from the Center Court bleachers or the Fiesta Food Court.
The competition will feature three divisions: 15 & Under, Open, and a team event. Day 1 will host qualifiers for individual divisions, followed by individual finals and the team event on Day 2.
Participants are encouraged to register for the event individually and/or assemble their own dream teams for the team event, offering a chance to vie for prestigious awards.
“This marks the start of a series of larger-scale Ninja Warrior competitions on Guam,” said Head Coach Deren Perez. “While our previous events have primarily taken place within the confines of our gym, bringing a Ninja Warrior-type event to Guam has long been a passion project. I had the pleasure of competing in Ninja Warrior events throughout different parts of the world and I thought, Why not bring it to Guam? The logistics of bringing something large-scale to Guam, of course, was an arduous process. But it’s here, and our team is excited to host this event for the community.”
Perez added, “We aim not only to entertain but also to showcase skills required of ninja athletes and introduce a new dimension of sports and fitness to Guam. It’s an exciting blend of fun and competition — the essence of ninja training. We urge everyone to step out of their comfort zones and experience the excitement firsthand. When we think of Ninja Warrior, the warrior archetype can be found in a lot of cultures. Sindalu, for example, is the Chamoru word for ‘warrior.’ Join this event and bring out the warrior in you.”
Attendees can look forward to games for spectators and giveaways during the event.
Not sure if you’re up for the challenge? Stop by the Micronesia Mall on Thursday, May 30, 2024 for a public demonstration of the course by the Guma i Sindalu Siha team and get some practice time on Friday, May 31, 2024 to prepare for the games.
