SAIPAN International School and Agape Christian School continued their battle for first place in the high school category of the PSS-NMA All-School Cross Country Series SY25-26 after the second week of races at American Memorial Park on Saturday. SIS retained control of the boys division, while ACS took over the girls division.
SIS held on to the top spot in the boys division with 24 points, narrowly edging out ACS, who finished second with 25 points. Marianas High School was third with 43 points, followed by Saipan Southern High School (96), Mount Carmel School (108), Dr. Rita Hocog Inos Jr./Sr. High School (Rota, 114), and Kagman High School (122).
In cross country, the team with the lowest score wins. Scores are calculated by adding the finishing positions of runners from each team, with each runner earning points equal to their finish: 1st place = 1 point, 2nd place = 2 points, 3rd place = 3 points, and so on.
SIS remained the team to beat thanks to Victor Nash Santos, who earned his second consecutive first-place finish with a time of 18:00, followed by teammate Landen Taflinger (18:46). Completing the top 10 were: MHS’ Takeru Jim (18:58), MHS’ Michael Miller (19:22), ACS’ James Fan (19:31), ACS’ Raffy Cai (19:34), SIS’ Victor Neil Santos (20:30), ACS’ Steve Yang (21:04), RHI’s Caleb Aguero (20:41), and ACS’ Benny Li (20:58).
ACS dominated the girls division with 24 points. SIS followed with 28, MHS with 29, and RHI with 75. Leading the competition was SIS’ Addalee Taflinger (22:18), followed by MHS’ Orica George (24:08) and ACS’ Sablina Shen (24:14). The rest of the top 10 were: ACS’ Lucy Hong (25:11), SIS’ Julie Chavez (25:26), MHS’ Jian Chun (25:36), ACS’ Jessica Chen (25:46), SIS’ Faith Arriola (26:02), MHS’ Genelyn Lansangan (26:16), and ACS’ Elim Luo (28:46).
