SAIPAN International School and Dandan Middle School, among other schools, earned podium finishes in the finale of the relay events in the middle school and high school divisions of the PSS-McDonald’s All School Track and Field SY24-25 at the Oleai Sports Complex on Friday and Saturday.
SIS bagged the girls 14U and 18U division titles in the 4x100M events.
The SIS runners — Faith Arriola, Kate Manglona, Windsor Gross, Beatrice Gross, and Scarlett Burrell — relied on each other’s speed and consistency to claim the girls 14U 4x100M title with a time of 58.67.
In second place were DMS’ Rhodalyn, Zandueta, Talina Aguon-McClure, Dana Munar, Alyssa Mendiola, Sia Choi, and Tristine Deleon Guerrero with a time of 59.84 for silver while Hopwood Middle School’s Alina Esakova, Aubyguel Castro, Princess Gariguez, Anica Aquino, and Manyah Villagomez clocked 1:02.71 for bronze.
SIS also won the gold medal in the girls 18U 4x100M event with Addalee Taflinger, Michelle Li, Aubrey White, Kaithlyn Chavez, and Ziting Wu finishing first with a time of 56.46.
In second place was the Marianas High School 1 team of Iris Rasa, Savannah Flores, Biannca Long, Abbie Kim, and Richelle Sune, who clocked 59.64 for silver followed by Agape Christian School’s Mary Zhu, Joyce Ying, Joanna Zhang, Eunice Wu and Iris Chen with a finish time of 1:00.90 for bronze.
Dandan Middle School, for its part, earned gold in the 14U boys 4x100M title. The DMS team of Yuxi Lu, Jacob Encabo, Kaleb Reyes, Manuel, Villagomez, Sisku Santos, and Jeffrey Pangelinan finished first at 51.25 followed by Francisco M. Sablan Middle School’s Christopher Deleon Guerrero, Logan Daniel, Ben Hossain, Johnny Villanueva, and Worthy Defang, who clocked 52.67 for silver. Coming in third at 53.49 for bronze were HMS’ Leon Galarse, Korshed Berdan, John Vergara, Zuriel Abejo, Isaiah Ojeda, and Chris Lumanlan.
The boys 18U 4x100M event was one of the more exciting races.
Agape Christian School’s sprinters — Joseph Yang, Daniel Yang, Jeshurun He, Caleb Cui, and Louis Chen — emerged victorious with a time of 48.3 to win gold.
Saipan Southern High School’s Simon Tang, Kian Helgen, Christopher Cruz, and Monico Claridades finished at 50.07 for silver while MHS’ James, Mercader, Changhwan Ryu, Enrique Naputi, William Camacho, Letrell, Pelisaman, and Grant Li clocked 50.69 for bronze.
SIS’ Faith Arriola, Jamie Whang, Neveah Arriola, Windsor Gross, and Kate Manglona were just as efficient in the 4x400M, winning gold in the girls 14U division with a time of 5:07.5 followed by DMS’ Rhodalyn Zandueta, Tristine Deleon Guerrero, Sia Choi, Alyssa Mendiola, Talina Aguon-McClure and Dana Munar (5:07.66) for silver.
Coming in third for bronze were Grace Christian Academy’s Kate Qiaoyi Xu, Breanna Lopez, Keala Takeda, Chloe Shin, and Catalina Frink (5:29.34).
SIS’ Addalee Taflinger, Michelle Li, Aubrey White, Kaithlyn Chavez, and Ziting Wu also claimed gold in the girls U18 4x400M event with a time of 4:42.61 followed by MHS’s Alice Moon, Jian Chun, Yu Xi Zhang, Catherine Pan, Richelle Sune, and Savannah Flores (5:08.47) for silver, and ACS’ Mary Zhu, Sablina Shen, Joanna Zhang, Lucy Hong, Eunice Wu, and Joyce Ying (5:15.98) for bronze.
DMS reigned supreme in the boys 14U 4x400M event with Yuxi Lu, Jeffrey Pangelinan, Jpiel Calsita, Jacob Encabo, Dylan Hofschneider, and Sisku Santos clocking 4:22.95 to win gold followed by HMS’ Korshed Berdan, Chris Lumanlan, John Vergara, Zuriel Abejo, Isaiah Ojeda, Leon Galarse (4:37.02) for silver and Chacha Ocean View Middle School’s Gerard Naputi, Kyle Naputi, Billy Quitugua, and Teovannie Dela Cruz (4:49.6) for bronze.
As for the boys 18U 4x400M event, SSHS’ Christopher Cruz, Monico Claridades, Kian Helgen, and Simon Tang sought redemption and finished first with a time of 3:55.7 to claim gold followed by ACS’ Joseph Yang, Steve Yang, Caleb Cui, Samuel Zhu, Daniel Yang, and Jeshurun He (3:55.88) for silver and SIS’ Sean Park, Nash Santos, Junseo Kim, Landen Taflinger, and Jimmy Ji (4:10.36) for bronze.
