SWEET Rolls successfully defended their Saipan Mayor’s Youth Softball Cup title by crushing Buck’em, 32-3, at the Capital Hill softball field on Sunday.
Sweet Rolls barely made any changes to last year’s roster, and their chemistry as a team was undeniable, scoring runs in every inning.
Their hunger for the championship was evident right from the start, as nearly their entire batting lineup scored a run.
After their first batter struck out, Andre and Keahie hit back-to-back solo home runs, followed by King’s two-run homer, bringing in eight consecutive runs. Before the inning ended, they managed to add one more run to establish a 9-0 lead.
Buck’em struggled to find their footing, filling the first two innings with flyouts that Sweet Rolls caught with ease. Sweet Rolls then picked up where they left off, scoring two runs in the second inning and adding six more in the top of the third to extend the deficit to 14-0.
In the bottom half of the third, Buck’em finally broke the silence, scoring three runs. However, they remained silent for the rest of the game. Meanwhile, Sweet Rolls continued their onslaught, adding 15 more runs over the next three innings to secure a 32-3 victory.
