TANAPAG and Hopwood Middle School II each collected their second win over their respective opponents in the girls middle school division of the TakeCare-PSS Interscholastic Volleyball League SY23-24 on Tuesday at the Marianas High School gym.

Tanapag had a tough match but managed to outlast Chacha Ocean View Middle School in two sets.

In the opening set, TMS grasped the early control as a handful of errors were made by COVMS. TMS’ reign was short-lived, however, as they suffered the same fate on the defensive end with miscommunication and unsuccessful returns, which allowed COVMS to score five straight points and take the lead, 10-7.

As the battle for control continued, COVMS eventually committed costly mistakes, allowing TMS to secure the first win, 21-18.

In the second set, TMS unleashed several unanswered overhead serves to set the tone early. COVMS retaliated with quick single-hit returns in hopes of staying within reach, but TMS kept the pressure going long enough to run away with the second set and secure match victory, 21-17.

HMS II vs FMS II

Hopwood Middle School II  bagged their second win of the season after easing past Francisco M. Sablan Middle School II in two sets.

HOP II’s overall skill and teamwork were their biggest strength as they filled the first set with early offensive highlights. Although FMS II fought back with a decent performance, HOP II gradually worked their way to victory, 21-16,

In the second set, HOP II overpowered FMS II, 21-9.

Joining the winner’s circle were the undefeated Grace Christian Academy, which collected their third win by beating FMS, 21-11, 21-7.

For their part, TMS II outhustled Dandan Middle School II, 21-15, 21-18 while COVMS II outplayed MCS II, 21-9, 21-13.
