TANAPAG Middle School won the championship of the inaugural SBL-PSS Interscholastic Softball League SY23-24 after defeating Hopwood Middle School, 9-5, at the Capital Hill baseball field on Saturday. 

HMS, which outlasted MCS, 8-5, to advance to the final round, was ready to rumble. HMS drew first blood with Siancy Phylim, Jayla Ayuyu, and Paulette Somol rounding the bases for a 3-0 lead after one completed inning.

In the bottom of the second, TMS scored three runs courtesy of Rayven Quitano, Marlaina Benjamin and Kaya Macaranas to even the score, 3-3.

HMS tried to regain the upper hand with Lailey Teregeyo bringing in two runners for a two-RBI double in the top of the fourth, but TMS equalized with two runs in the bottom half for another deadlock, 5-5.

HMS suddenly fell into an offensive drought while TMS stepped up in crunch time with four consecutive runs to take the lead, 9-5.

HMS had one last chance to stay alive but they could not break through TMS’ line of defense, and had to settle for defeat, 5-9.

The roster of TMS, which was undefeated throughout the tournament, consisted of Aaliyah Cosmes, Amaya Ogumoro, Anella Pangelinan, Bethany Delos Santos, Callie Abraham, Ivalynn Farnsworth, Jonielle Pua, Kaya Macaranas, Kayshlie Aguon, Kyria Ngiraked, Marlaina Benjamin, Neavena Iguel, Precilla Ruak, Rayven Quitano, Risa Sablan, Ziella Sablan, Rexyann Jose, Chelsea Santos.

Their head coach is Felisa Brel Teliu while the assistant coach is Neil Camacho.
