The recent SAPTember Youth Volleyball Tournament was organized by the Community Guidance Center of the Department of Public Health, through Becky Covarrubias, the sports coordinator.

“I was very pleased with the turnout of this tournament. All the athletes played well and were very cooperative! I am so appreciative of all the help and assistance from Ada Gym, and all the volunteers who helped: referees, call lines, and scoreboard operators. The success of the tournament was due in part to the athletes and volunteers!” Covarrubias stated.

Earlier she pointed out problems on the lack of volunteer referees and not enough teams for the tournament.

Three teams joined the 14 (Co-Ed) and Girls’ 18-under categories, and four teams participated in the Boys’ 18-under.

Covarrubias thanked all the young players, coaches, referees, and other people who helped organize the event.
