In the beginners’ category, Stone Bin- Fang bested 16 other players in the beginner’s division.
The finals were held at the Airai Tennis Court last Nov. 1, 2008 the awarding was done last Sunday, Nov. 8.In the Intermediate division, Udui beat Tomohiro Odai to get the first place with a score of 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 while the later was awarded the first runner up trophy, the third place meanwhile went to Noel Reyes.Ben Ramos got the fourth place after Reyes defeated him in the playoffs.The championship trophy for the beginner’s division meanwhile was down between Bin-Fang and Akira Hikuji.Bin- Fang beat Hikuji , 6-0, 6-2.David Gutierrez was the 2nd runner-up while 14-year old Kaito Fuji was in fourth place. The tournament ran for two weeks with at least 20 participants including young tennis players who competed in the North Pacific Qualifying (NPQ) tournament in Guam.Larry Wakakoro, President of the tennis federation said that the tournament was sponsored by WCTC.WCTC donated six trophies for the top three of each division and 28 polo shirts.
