Negahr Rastguiy led WPS with 14 points. WPS stormed for an 8-2 lead in the first quarter and dominated again, 16-6 by the second. Victoria Chentsova, Gabrielle Race, and Jennifer Tan each tallied six points while Suah Cho made four.
SDA’s Joy Pena missed on two free throws but recovered with a layup and eight more points in the second half.
WPS secured 14 points by the third quarter, leaving SDA room for only one shot from Danessa Taylor. Whispering Palms School slowed its offense in the final minutes to recuperate.
Despite making 10 points, Pena’s late game surge wasn’t enough for SDA. Taylor made the other half of her team’s total score.
WPS, which gained the top seed in this week’s playoffs, will play again on Thursday, March 10 at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
