Like most people, Williams is currently suffering from financial setbacks that may impede is chances of going.
As a solution, he plans to hold a “Heartim’s Micro Games Fundraiser” to help him make the trip.
Each athlete aside from him must raise around $1,000 not only for plane tickets, but for their food, lodging, transportation, uniforms, and pocket money.
In an interview, Williams said his team is set to leave on July 26 to Guam for a “Guam tune up” before flying to Palau for the event.
The dates were not confirmed yet, and are still being discussed by the coaches and athletes.
Aside from Williams’ personal fundraiser, his fellow members from the CNMI track team will also plan to hold a “Drive to Palau Fundraiser” which they hope will support the rest of their needs to Palau.
According to both Williams and his co- athlete Jacque Wonenberg, they are uncertain whether the “Drive to Palau Fundraiser” will happen as scheduled, due to minor setbacks, among which includes the absence of their coach Elias Rangamar from the island.
So far, the team was able to collect donations from the Northern Marianas Amateur Sports Association and McDonalds Restaurants.
Williams’ personal fundraiser is set for July 17 at Civic Center, where he will be supported by family and friends. He will be selling a variety of food for lunch, starting at 11 am to 2 pm.
