Both teams drew close to each other in the final quarter, with the Wings Travels leading by seven points. While Wings Travel’s Junar Guiab and Tony Diaz made their shots, Edwin Santos dove below the basket, ready for a rebound.
Santos tried to score his seventh field goal for the night but was double teamed by Kids Cove’s Melvin Villarin and Elias Rangamar.
Making a three pointer in the first half, Diaz only pulled off one jump shot before the game ended. The Kids Coves had their chance for the ball, but easily lost it to Guiab and Sam Fernandez. With several fouls called on Rangamar and Jun Alipio, the Kids Coves began to falter in the offense. Like their match against the MAFEA – Ebisuyas last Saturday, the Kids Coves lost their much needed momentum in the final minutes of the game.
Seeing their chance for the basket, Wings Travel’s Robert Guiang and Santos scored four extra points before the game ended.
The Wings Travels will play their finals game against the Ebisuyas today at JP Center basketball court. In the open division, the MDX – Chow Queens will be facing the MAFEA – Ali’i Konflikts.
