Winning anglers bring home over $20K, trophies

Still, nobody broke the record of Love Boat’s Danny Agulto and Jesus Sablan who caught 624.34 of blue marlin in 1997.

Beating this record would make the successful anglers $10,000 richer.

Yet, everybody left the awarding rites happy.

Antonio Camacho his anglers, Melvin Aldan, Damian Pua and Anthony Camacho brought home $3,000 cash, a six-foot tall trophy and lots of in-kind awards for landing 319.50 lbs of blue marlin.

Fidel Mendiola Jr., of Señor Dung won $2,000 for his total catch that weighed $178.20 lbs in the total weight category.

Defending champion, Cabo Express’ Rep, Heinz S. Hofschneider, his anglers, Louie Manibusan, John Castro

and Conrad Hofschneider were awarded $2,500 for winning the first place with their 224 lbs blue marlin.

Tony Maestro and Dodong Salinas of CM-2337-CF boat won $1,500 for their 191.7 lbs and Wilson Apaisam and Eva McKinny of Serepein won $1,000 for their 130.55 lbs catch.

In the yellow fin category, Patrick Ulechong, Jerry Smith, Nate Perez, John Uys, Isaiah Ulechong and Frank Iguel won $1,000 for their 48.10 lbs of yellow fin tuna. Paul Roberto and James Roberto of Botin Saba won $500 for the 14.5 pounder and John San Nicolas and Arrol Moises of San Juan II, for 11.85 lbs.

Cal Reyes, his son, Cal Jr, and Benjie Saures of Padre De Familia won $1,000 for the 34.60 lbs prize wahoo winner. Frank Reyes, Nick Muna, Gill Reyes and Jess Reyes of CM-622-PU brought home $500 for the 29.75 lbs second placer and Annie Legaspi and Nanding Arabic of Sea Craft 4 won $300 for the 25.30 lbs wahoo third placer.

Tweety Bird’s Gonzalo Pangelinan, Chris Pangelinan and Bernard Pangelinan were the only winners in the Mah-mahi category with their 2.9 lbs. They won $1,000.

In the Skip jack tuna category, Paul Roberto and James Roberto of Botin Saba won $600 for their 15.05 lbs; Lino Tenorio, Jess Taitano Jr., and Marcy Tudela won $400 for their 13.30 lbs and Frank Reyes, Nick, Gill and Jess won $300 third prize for the 11.60 lbs.
